Science Projects

There were two similar projects at my son's 4th grade science fair.

My son's project tested how would a plants would do being fed salt water, sugar water, and water. In summary, the salt water killed the plants overnight, and the sugar water plants slowly died.

A girl in my son's class did a similar experience except she tested water, diet coke, and sprite. Her results varied from my son's - The sprite and normal water plants died. The only ones that lived were the diet coke plants.

Draw your own conclusions.

Coming together

I've been slacking on the posts--here is what has been going on:
  • Signed up for the Park City Point 2 Point
  • Still riding, and hardly skiing
  • Rode with the big wig from Carbo Rocket. I suffered and he talked the whole way up North Suncrest.
  • Coach Dan has me doing some nasty intervals. Good pain. Good prep for the first ICUP race in St. George.
  • I have Racer lacing up a set of new wheels - SS King hubs w/ Stans Crest Rims.
  • I've been gathering some parts for the new PCPP bike (Niner Air Carbon). Although the frame isn't expect until sometime in March (if I'm lucky), I'm gathering all the pieces so it can be put together ASAP. XX Group is here - The cassette is a serious piece of bling.

Rejected

To my dismay, I did not make it into leadville. I told myself I would be happy to get in, and relieved if I didn't get in. Now that I know, I feel quite disappointed. Don't the organizers know that I ordered the "leadville 100 special edition" Niner carbon air fully anticipating my acceptance into the race? I guess I'll have to rename the bike. Time to search for another race - PCPP, Laramie, Butte???

My oldest son is finally tall enough to ride his road bike.

Back to riding

After a week of sick kids passing germs from one to the next, it was nice to get out on ride w/ Aaron today for a road ride. We stuck to the light traffic pothole roads from Lindon out to Saratoga Springs. Weather was awesome--it just doesn't seem right for Feb. 1.

Aaron at the Saratoga Springs boat harbor pondering if he could cross country ski across Utah lake when it freezes over.
